Following are the remarks made by Michael Zaslow at the 1994 Daytime Emmy Awards upon winning the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in A Drama Series:

"I'm so relieved. I want to thank my fellow actors, members of the Academy. I want to thank my wife -- my partner in life, Susan Hufford, who made this possible and who has made all the good things possible in my life since I met her -- and I tell you that not only because it's true but because she told me to tell you, because she said that's what David Canary and Peter Bergman always say. I want to thank you for sparing my lovely daughters, Marika and Helena, the task of once again having to write me a consolation note for me to post on my dressing room wall.

I just have a few people that I must thank. It's such a
wonderful collaborative effort and it's such a terrific place to go to work, that is the
Guiding Light, and you need every bit of collaborative effort in the business of making an
hour movie a day, 52 weeks a year. But I do want to say that there are a few fellow
workers I want to mention and among them are three people with whom I've shared just a
wonderful bunch of memories over a long time, years -- that's Peter Simon and Maureen
Garrett and Jerry VerDorn -- who share, with a remarkable cast, an availability in their
work that just, under the guidance of a terrific bunch of directors, makes taping a show
as safe as Uta Hagen's scene study class.
I want to thank our great writing team who this last year was led by Nancy Curlee, Stephen
Demorest, Patrick Mulcahey and Nancy Williams Watt, and two wonderful old friends who are
script writers -- Roger Newman and Courtney Simon among them, who comprised this year's
lucky reel. And finally, Jill Farren Phelps, whose combination of heart and talent,
intelligence, wit is just peerless, and ... finally, I want to thank my parents
Milton and Edith Zaslow, who instilled in me a love of justice, a passion, a trust and a
belief in my dreams, and the ability to love. Thank you all very much."
