" 'Angel' is the only word in the language which never can be worn out. "

Brynn Thayer and Michael Zaslow, aka Jenny and David Renaldi on One Life To Live,  delighted fans when they put in a surprise appearance at the One Life to Live luncheon on April 26, 1998.  It was Michael's first public appearance after his ALS diagnosis.

"It was a close family friend and former co-star on "One Life To Live," Brynn Thayer, who witnessed what were among Zaslow’s most difficult days, after he finally had lost his ability to speak. When his wife was unable to accompany him to Houston to visit another specialist, Brynn volunteered to meet him there in November of 1997. But at first, Zaslow didn’t accept the offer.   Michael Zaslow: 'I said no. I didn’t want her to see me.'  Brynn Thayer: 'Michael said, "You don’t want to see me. I don’t look the way I used to. I can’t talk to you. I drool. I don’t—I don’t want you to be there." And I wrote back, and I said, "I don’t give a darn. I want to be there."'"

"My wife and I didn't know it was ALS until that life-changing three-day sojourn to Houston at the Baylor-Methodist Hospital, the 17th through the 19th of November.  Brynn Thayer (ex-Jenny, OLTL) , one of the many angels I was to meet, was my shepard through the whole odyssey."  Michael Zaslow, December 31, 1997.

"From that point, Brynn says, she asked Zaslow to think of the people he encountered as angels who came into his life for a purpose.... Brynn Thayer: 'No matter who you meet or who comes into your life, they come there for a purpose, and I would like to call them angels, and I think Michael’s a believer now.'"  From ABC-TV's "20/20" segment "Michael Zaslow's Silent Victory", May 8, 1998.

... I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live, to teach us how to give
To guide us with the light of love.

When life held troubled times and had me down on my knees
There's always been someone to come along and comfort me
A kind word from a stranger to lend a helping hand
A phone call from a friend just to say I understand
Now ain't it kind of funny, at the dark end of the road
Someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope

They wear so many faces
Show up in the strangest places
To grace us with their mercy in our time of need.
