I'll add Michael Zaslow right up there with Jack Norton - my
heroes.
My eulogy for a friend and compatriot.
In a time when war was more chivalrous and lives were valued, taking them was done in
reverence. In the midst of battle, time was set aside for each side to claim its dead. The
fallen warriors were buried with dignity. Sadly for Michael, as all PALS, there will be no
respite, no cessation of hostilities. Our cruel foe plunders onward. Thus, his fallen body
must remain there, where it fell. He would want the charge to continue.
Grab those colors he so proudly carried for us ! Let them not falter. Raise them
high again. We must rush over him, our fallen brother, pausing but an instant to thank him
for his sacrifice. The battle smoke is thick, our enemy elusively awaits on the horizon.
We each must fight on, for him and for all. Follow me bravely.
In the sweetness of the victory, which will come, vow to reassemble. On soft grass , under
blue skies, gather to remember. Hold hands, sing songs and give thanks, for it will
finally be over. Never again will ALS reap its grim harvest. And, then, take the time to
celebrate all the fallen heroes. Sense the spirit of those who didn't make it . Know that
we will be there with you grateful and proud .
Thank you Michael.
