On May 6, 2001, the third annual ZazAngels benefit featured a theatrical reading
of Meir Ribalow's brilliant new play, "The Nature of the Universe,"
starring Blythe Danner and Brian Dennehy.
The cast and author offered their talent in honor of the late daytime Emmy-Award
winning actor and ALS patient, Michael Zaslow, who died in 1998. He and
his wife, Susan Hufford, founded ZazAngels in concert with the Greater New York
Chapter to raise funds to fight ALS.
With more than 500 people in attendance, the evening was a huge success.
Funds raised will support an exciting new clinical study to be undertaken by
Stephen Scelsa, M.D., Beth Israel Medical Center. A special thanks is
extended to Jimmy Nederlander, Jr., and The Nederlander Organization for
donating the Neil Simon Theater and to Barbi Zakin.
