... it's still Valentine's Day in Springfield

ROGER and HOLLY arrive at THE TOWERS, where they're greeted by BLAKE.

BLAKE: Since when do you two go out in public?  Do you enjoy being notorious?

ROGER: We’re uh  [looking at HOLLY]. . . we’re celebrating.

HOLLY: The Spauldings have dropped all charges against your father in connection with his takeover of the company last year. He’s a free man!

BLAKE [stunned]: Dad!  How did you manage that?

ROGER:  Well, uh, just a little negotiating!

HOLLY: Dropping his vendetta against Billy Lewis didn’t hurt.

BLAKE:  Well, that’s incredible!  Does this mean that my little nephew stays at the Lewis’?

ROGER: Just for the time being.

BLAKE:  He threatened you again, didn't he Dad?  Billy Lewis shot you, and now he's got you practically apologizing!

ROGER:  Just a minute ... nobody is apologizing for anything!

BLAKE:  Well, it certainly seems like he's going to get away with it.

ROGER:  There are tradeoffs, that's for sure.  But gaining my freedom is certainly worth more than pursuing this age-old grudge match.  It has to stop somewhere, Chrissy, and thankfully I'm still around to be the one to do it.

HOLLY:  Be happy, honey.

BLAKE:  Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm just trying to follow this.  You're not going to do anything about Peter?

ROGER hesitates, and when he says nothing, BLAKE laughs and continues:   ... Fabulous! I kinda went out on a limb with Detective Cutter for nothing then.

ROGER:  What limb did you go out on with Detective Cutter?

BLAKE:  Oh, never mind, never mind ... listen, if Billy doesn't go to jail, that's one less thing I have to apologize to Ross for.

As they all look to the table where ROSS is talking to BRIDGIT ...

HOLLY:  How is your fiancé tonight?

BLAKE:  Well, we started out together.  But apparently Bridgit Reardon doesn't trust Roger Thorpe's daughter.

ROGER:  Oh, I have to make a quick phone call; I'll be right back.

ROGER says "Hello" as he walks by ROSS and BRIDGIT.  BRIDGIT is worried that the Lewis family will no longer be able to provide her baby with the kind of life he deserves, and asks ROSS if there is any way she can get PETER back without involving HART and, of course, ROGER.

All three are in a booth; ROGER and HOLLY sit very snugly together.

ROGER: I wonder what Bridget is conferring with Ross about?

BLAKE: I don’t know ... but I’m sure it’s about Peter. Well, I guess I’ll just let you two be. I’m happy for you.

ROGER [softly]: Thank you honey.

BLAKE:  You know, Dad ... I kinda wanted to know what your plans were.  I assume you’re going to go back to the TV station. And ... uh ... [a bit too chirpily] ...where you gonna live?

ROGER: Uh ... [a significant look passes between ROGER and Holly, and he smiles] I promise you’ll be the first to know.

As ROGER and HOLLY have their dinner, HOLLY turns to get a better look at ROGER.

HOLLY: I’d forgotten what you looked like when you’re happy.

ROGER: I’d forgotten what it was like to feel this happy.

As they leave their booth for the evening . . .

HOLLY: You were just a little evasive when Blake asked you that question.

ROGER [with a twinkle in his eye]: Well, I just decided to sleep on it.

HOLLY: Fair enough.

To find out what happens after Roger "sleeps on it" ...
