From Soap Opera Digest, July 3, 2001: You voted, and now the results of the 17th Annual Soap Opera Digest Awards are in. Here, we've got all the winners' acceptance speeches that you can't see anywhere else. So, without further ado (drumroll please) ...

"Scene stealer ... moi? [Laughs]. I am reminded of the time Ruth Gordon won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for "Rosemary's Baby" at the age of 72, and she looked at the award and said, 'My, this is encouraging.' I am so grateful to the readers and editors of Soap Opera Digest for this great honor. However, nobody 'steals' a scene from enormous talents like Juliet Mills [Tabitha] and Josh Ryan Evans [Timmy] --- NOBODY! That having been said, don't think for a moment that I'm declining this award. I was 'dressed to kill' in costumes by Toby Lamm and bewitching wigs by Linle White. I have never had so much fun at work, so I want to thank Executive Producer Lisa Hesser; her production team; the fabulous directors, writers, cast and crew; [publicist] Eva Demirjian; [casting director] Jackie Briskey; everyone who made me feel so welcome in the brilliant and innovative world of James E. Reilly's PASSIONS. Oh, dear, I hear the music playing ... I have to go ! Thank you all so very much."
