GIMME THE BUZZ !!!
Remembering GL's Summer of 1990  ...

While Reva, Josh, Marah, Shayne, Harley, Dylan and Samantha set off on that fateful vacation in the Florida Keys, back in Springfield people were still reeling from the fallout of June 18, 1990, the night of the Gala Opening of the Waterview Towers.  Neil Everest, the architect-turned-psycho who had brought the presumed-dead Beth Raines back to town the year before, was killed in a bomb blast, leaving Phillip Spaulding facing a grand jury indictment on first-degree murder charges. In the days that followed, Beth desperately pursued Roger and begged him to help Phillip, perhaps, if all else failed, by getting him out of the country.

That same night, Roger lost the Towers to the Lewises, leaving his wife Alexandra humiliated by, among other things, his "stupidity". Billy Lewis, who was busy trying to juggle Nadine Cooper and Vanessa Chamberlain, turned his back on his "Princess" Mindy, who'd begun to have feelings for Roger, and Alexandra locked Roger out of their bedroom, leading Roger and Mindy to turn to each other.  As their affair began (both insisting it was "one night only" at the time), Alexandra decided it was time to challenge Roger's vow of faithfulness.  And who better to do the fidelity testing than Roger's one true Achilles' heel, Holly, who was in love with Ross, and tired of letting Roger "get" to her? A desperate Alex suggested that Holly attempt to seduce Roger.

While their own lives were plenty complicated, Roger and Holly's adventure in Costa Verde was precipitated by events which caused their daughter Blake's life to spiral out of control.  She married Alan-Michael Spaulding on June 21, 1990, several days after the Towers explosion.  At the time, ever-observant Roger noted that Blake appeared to be scared of former lover Gary Swanson.  Not without good reason.  Blake had a secret, and Gary knew how to exploit it.  Blake and Alan-Michael left for their honeymoon, destination unknown, on Friday, June 22, and on Tuesday, June 26, she woke up to find something missing: her new husband.  Blake immediately suspected Gary.

This three-week storyline adventure proved to be a turning point in Roger and Holly's relationship.  The transcripts and screen caps which comprise our Costa Verde Memory Post feature many of the highlights.  Click on the links below, and ENJOY!!!!!!!!
